Looking After the Environment

Looking After the Environment

Yoga has a very strong philosophy called ahisma which translated means: non-violence. This is a very broad statement because it means non-violence to yourself, other people, your community, animals and your environment. We want to educate you in all areas and be consistent. This is sometimes not easy because we are all guilty of not thinking about our environment especially with our throwaway society. It is impossible not to have an impact on our environment and we are not saying that we are perfect but we are going to do the best we can. We also need balance in life otherwise we would not have people in jobs and we would not have a healthy economy in general.

Here are some ways that we can look after our environment.

Always carry a recycled bag with you shopping so you can say no thank you to plastic bags.

Think about walking or riding a bike if you can instead of driving, this way you save the environment and also you will gain the benefit of some exercise.

Always try and source out products made from recyclable materials. For example toilet paper, paper towels and many other products on the market. Believe it or not you can buy a letter box made from recycled plastic.

If you cannot find a recycle bin to put your rubbish in when you are out then think about taking your rubbish home with you to put in your own recycle bin.

We can all make a difference.

We need to consistently work at it like anything else in life and then it becomes an automatic thing we do in our lives that we don’t have to think about it at all.
